Leftovers exists as a collaborative hub for creators and cultivators to unearth and share the roots of their work - the leftovers. About Our founders are chef Gaby Weir Vera and food journalist Jessica Vaughn Martin (you can call us Gaby + Jess). We believe that food paired with story builds connection - people to people, people to food, food to the present, past, and future. Here, you’ll find the stories behind published pieces from the viewpoints of their creators - writers, photographers, filmmakers, recipe developers, and more. We share written stories and audio conversations with farmers, chefs, brewers, and other local producers, along with story-driven recipes developed by our co-founder, chef Gaby. We see food as a means of advocacy, social justice, cultural connection and understanding. Our content promotes sustainability and the reduction of food waste, featuring accessible recipes that center around leftovers and ingredients sourced from local grocers and producers. Leftovers aims to be inclusive of all ages and backgrounds, with a special focus on a demographic that’s often forgotten in the food industry: kids. We share recipes, stories, and educational pieces aimed at uplifting and connecting children and families in our community with our local food systems and with the cultural histories of everyday meals.
